Sonja Mae Hunt, daughter of Glenn Leroy and Florence Irene Sherk Tuman, was born, September 27, 1939 in Cedar Falls, Iowa. She departed this life, Sunday, January 30, 2011, in Lake Regional Hospital, Osage Beach, Missouri at the age of seventy-one years, four months and three days.

On May 19, 1957 in Janesville, Iowa, she was united in marriage to Richard Lee Hunt and to this union two daughters were born. Together they shared fifty-three years of marriage.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Gary Tuman.

Survivors include her husband, Richard Hunt of the home; two daughters, Theresa Lewis and husband Ken and Dawn McGuire and David Stout all of Camdenton, Missouri; four grandchildren, Ashley McGuire, Emily Lewis, MacKenzie McGuire and Chayann Lewis and other relatives and many friends.

Sonja was raised in Iowa and graduated from high school in Janesville. After her marriage to Richard, they lived in Evansdale, Iowa for a time before moving to California. While in California, she worked as a sales representative for a swim suit manufacturer. The family moved to the lake area in 1984 where they owned and operated R&S Liquor. She later went on to manage Casey's General Store and the Signal station.

In her spare time she enjoyed fishing and camping. She and Richard had been members of a two-way radio club in California. She loved to have a good time and be with her family.

She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and will treasure the memories she created for her family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 pm., Saturday, February 5, 2011 in Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m., Saturday in the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to a fund established to assist the family and left at the funeral home.

Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton is assisting the family with arrangements.
