Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the Sunset Chapel of Taft Funeral Home for Paul Louis Joplin, 60, who died Sunday in a Los Angeles hospital, following a lengthy illness.

He was born December 26, 1919, in Mena, Arkansas to Levi and Lora Joplin. He married the former Tommie Louise Ewell in Texakana. They moved to Taft in 1939.

He served in the Army during World War II and following his discharge in 1945, he returned to Taft and began working as a well puller for C.W.O.D., now known as the Santa Fe Energy Company. He retired in 1978.

He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge # 1431. in addition to his wife Louise, he is survived by two sons, his mother, Lora Mae Joplin, a sister Geraldine Christensen, and one grandchild.

Co-officiating in the services will be the Moose Lodge # 1431 and the pastor of New Hope Temple. Members of the Moose will serve as casket bearers. Interment will follow in West Side Cemetery.

Friends may call to pay their respects Tuesday afternoon at the Taft Funeral Home.
