John Sievert came to the US in 1859. In 1867 he married Mary Wietzel in New Buffalo, Michigan. He and Mary had eight children: Fred, John, Will, August, Louis, Henry, Theodore and Annie.

Possible sister of Friederika (Sieferts) Harbrecht 1830-1910 who is buried near the Sieverts.
