Davenport - Mrs. Rita Mae Willis, Davenport, passed away Friday, April 18, 2003, at Genesis Medical Center-West Campus, Davenport, following an extended illness.

She was born Sept. 6, 1921, in Davenport, the daughter of Alfred and Elsie (Richter) Carstens. She married LeRoy Willis on Aug. 14, 1965, in Davenport. He preceded her in death March 7, 1973.

Mrs. Willis had been employed by Davenshire, Davenport, before her retirement. She also worked part-time at Schlagel Drug, Davenport.

Following her retirement, Mrs. Willis volunteered at the Friendly House for many years. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, crocheting and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan.

Survivors include two daughters, Rita Wymer, Moline, and Carol Back, Davenport; a son, "Butch" Wymer, Davenport; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Fredell Carstens and Manfred ("Skip") Carstens, both of Davenport; two sisters, Adele Erwin, Moline, and Shirley Doolittle, residing in Michigan.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters; three brothers; her parents; and a great-grandson.

Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Monday at National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal. Those desiring to attend the service should meet at Runge Mortuary, Davenport, before 12:30 p.m. Monday. Visitation is 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday at the mortuary. Memorials may be made to Davenport Friendly House.
