David Jerry Wagner, 79, of Ironton, passed away Monday, February 28, 2011, at his residence.

The Ironton, Ohio native was born January 11, 1932, the son of the late George and Laura Simones Wagner.

Mr. Wagner was a graduate of Rock Hill High School and a Veteran of the U.S. Army Korean Conflict. He was a retired school bus driver for the Rock Hill School District, where he enjoyed all the good group of kids and good group of parents for 28 years. He was a member of the Ohio Association of Public School Employees and of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by, a brother, Myron Wagner, two sisters, Barbara Roach and Karen "June" Robinson.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Alberta Burks Wagner, whom he married January 30, 1956,
two sons and a daughter-in-law, Larry Wagner of Pine Grove, and Terry and Rose Wagner of Columbus, Ohio, two brothers and a sister-in-law, Danny and Fern Wagner of Hanging Rock, and Jerry Wagner of Ironton, brother-in-law, Paul Roach of Ironton, former daughter-in-law, Beth Walbright of Ironton, four grandchildren, David Wagner, Aaron Wagner, Travis Wagner, and Felicia McGinnis all of Columbus, Ohio, and eleven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 5, 2011, at Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 South Seventh Street, Ironton, Ohio. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery Veterans Section with military graveside rites by the V.F.W. Post 8850.

Visitation will be Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
