Luther Watley Succumbs at 78
Luther M. Watley, 78, of West Monroe, father of William L. Watley of Shreveport, died at 3:30 a.m. Saturday morning in a West Monroe hospital following a heart attack.
Mr. Watley, a native of Bienville Parish, had lived in West Monroe for about 20 years. He owned and operated a used clothing and furniture store there until the time of his death.
Other survivors include another son, Fred W. Watley of Ruston; a daughter, Mrs. Pearl Melvin of Longview, Tex.; a brother, Leon Watley of Bienville; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Tilley of Jonesboro and Mrs. Lucretia Easley of Shreveport, and six grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete but will be held in Ruston Sunday.
