HINDSBORO -- Frances M. Halsey, 90, of Hindsboro, died at 10:36 a.m., Friday (July 14, 2006) at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Care Center in Mattoon. The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Hindsboro Christian Church. Burial will be in the Union Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Monday at the Taber Funeral Home, Oakland. She was born May 21, 1916 in Coles County, a daughter of Elmer L. and Rhoda M. Hodson. She married Asa Chapman Halsey in 1938; he died in 1988. Survivors include four daughters, Lorretta Ann Wiley of Quincy, Ind., Audrey Mae VanVoorhis of Strausberg, Asalee McMillen of Pittsburgh, Pa. and Rhoda Mary Ashmore of Oakland; 11 grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; and one sister, Ruth Etta Howrey of Charleston. She was preceded in death by five brothers, and four sisters. Mrs. Halsey was a homemaker. She was a member of the Hindsboro Christian Church, the Jolly Friendship Club, and was a past FHA Chapter Parent. Memorials made to the Hindsboro Christian Church or the American Heart Association.
