Owen Pigford Page was in a hospital for two months in Meridian, Mississippi. He then went to Hazlehurst, Mississippi to recover. He died a short time later.
Six years before his death, his beloved wife Sarah Lougenia Land passed away. They had six children together. Two of their sons died young from flux. It was thought from eating "green pears".
After the death of Sarah "Lou" he married his second wife Sallie Bryan. Sallie was his son-in-law's sister.
