John Thomas Patterson, well known local man, died at his home on Second street, March 2, after an illness of several months. He was aged 74 years, 2 months and 3 days at the time of his passing.
Mr. Patterson's early life was spent in Kentucky on the plantation on which he was born. On Sept. 2, 1880 he was united in marriage with Elizabeth N. Sheets, a native of Meade county, Kentucky. They moved immediately to Carthage, Missouri where they resided until 1888, during which time their three oldest children were born.
In 1888 the family came to Oregon, establishing a home in Klamath county. In 1906 they moved to Ashland and have since resided here continuously.
Mr. Patterson for the last 13 years was employed as manager with the Railway Express Agency.
He is survived by his widow and four children, all of whom were at his bedside at the time of his passing: Mrs. Joy Stiles, Klamath Falls; E.F. Patterson, San Francisco; J.E. Patterson, Pinehurst and Mrs. Inez Patterson, Ashland.
Other surviving relatives include: Henry Sheets, of Medford, now employed at Lakeview; Mrs. Nida Sheets, Medford, Will P. Sheets, Cottage Grove, and Nancy B. Curry, Kansas City, brothers and sisters of Mrs. Patterson. Mrs. Oatman has been a constant companion of her sister for several days.
Funeral services are to be held at the Dodge Chapel with burial to be made in Mt. View cemetery.
