Joseph Marion Smith an old and highly esteemed citizen of Francis died on Wednesday after a long illness. He was buried with Masonic honors on Thursday. Deceased was a brother of Silas Smith of this city. (Palatka News Obituary dtd Friday, 20 Nov 1908.)
Francis - Joseph Marion Smith's funeral was held at his late home Thursday afternoon; a large concourse of friends and Masons followed the remains to the last resting place. The services were conducted by the Masonic lodge of Peniel, where he was a member, and visiting Masons of Palatka attended the services at the grave.
