OBITUARY
NANCY GRAYSON CASEBIER
Mrs. A. E. Eltemiller, Redding, Calif., sends to Oskaloosa friends the announcement of the death of her grandmother, Mrs. W. C. Casebier, a half sister of David Grayson of this city, which occurred October 21.
Mrs. W. C. Casebier was born Nancy Grayson in Jefferson county Kansas, Jan. 29, 1857. She united in marriage with Whitfield C. Casebier, at Oskaloosa Jan. 14, 1872. She was the mother of fourteen children, eleven of whom are still living. At the time of her death she had fifty one grandchildren. She was a devoted and self sacrificing wife and mother who entered her rest at the age of 77 years.
In the Ashland, Oregon, Daily Tidings, of Oct. 23, we read:
Funeral services were held at the Dodge Chapel this afternoon were unusual in that they were held for Mrs. Nancy Grayson Casebier, 77, and her granddaughter, Jeanene Blossom Casebier, 5, at the same hour. Mrs. Casebier's death occurred Sunday morning at the Ashland Community Hospital, and that of the child occurred at a sanitarium in Klamath Falls Sunday evening.
Jeanene Casebier family came to Oregon in 1928 from Delta, Colorado, the elder Mrs. Casebier having been born in Jefferson county, Kansas, and having lived there for a number of years.
W. C. Casebier, husband of the deceased woman, and nine sons and daughters were in Ashland today for the double funeral. They include: Robert B. Casebier, of Olympia, Washington, G. W. Casebier of Salem, Mr. and Mrs. Homer Casebier and family of Merrill, Elvin Casebier of Montague, Calif., Mrs. Bessie Aten of Roseburg, Mrs. Sophia Ansted of Redding, Mrs. Ruth Schallis, Amos Casebier and Allen Casebier and their families, all of Ashland. Two daughter, Mrs. Katie Hanlon, Delta, Colo., and Mrs. Jessie Padgham of Oklahoma City, were unable to attend.
Interment for both was in Mountain View Cemetery.
