Callie Caroline Eifert was born Sept 3, 1863 in Kenton, Ohio to Nicholas Eifert and Elizabeth Radar. There is no record of Nicholas after 1870. Callie is shown living with her mother and brother Charles. 1880 census at age 16 yrs she lived with her sister Mollie Amelia Farmon, as her mother Elizabeth had died in 1880.

Callie Eifert and Charles Palm were married Mar 3, 1881 in Kenton, Ohio. In 1888 they arrived in Medford, OR. They were early investors in down town property. Charles had built Callie a structure on the corner of Main and Fir streets. At that time it was the only building west of the Southern Pacific railway tracks. It was called "Callie Palm's Millinery".

Callie's brother William W. Eifert brought his family to Medford in 1904 to join Callie. William was also in the Millinery business and later became mayor of Medford.

After Charles Palm passed away in 1933, Callie had erected a sculpture of a young man with 2 dogs in the fountain at Alba Park. The inscription reads "DEDICATED TO THE CITY OF MEDFORD BY CHARLES W. & CALLIE PALM 1934" Callie and charles had no children of their own, but always cherished their dogs. Callie also made several donations to the First Presbyterian Church in Medford which included stacks of bibles, the church bells etc.

For years she lived at 343 S. Holly where later she built an adjoining house onto hers. This is where her niece Jessie Barnum-Eldridge moved to look after her. My sister (Karen) and I spent many summers at this house. Auntie Callie had the nicest antique furniture. She was a very sweet god loving lady. Callie passed away Oct 15, 1960 after falling ill after breaking her hip. She is buried with her husband and her Eifert family at Eastwood I00F Cemetery in Medford, Or.
