First enlisted as a private in Company I, 129th Ohio Infantry on July 13, 1863 and mustered out March 7, 1864.

Next enlisted as a private (substitute enlistment) in Company C, 11th Ohio Infantry Battalion [not to be confused with the 11th Ohio Infantry] on September 4, 1864 and discharged June 11, 1865.

Member of Post 214 (Atwood), Grand Army of the Republic.
