George Henderson, 84, well known Geff merchant, died of a heart attack at his home. Mr. Henderson had suffered a first heart attack ten days ago. He had operated a general store at Geff the past 27 years. In recent years his son-in-law, Russell Warren, had been active in the store operation. Prior to moving to Geff, Mr. Henderson operated a general store at Round Prairie several miles west of Geff for many years. George Henderson, son of William and Elizabeth Ferguson Henderson, was born in the Round Prairie neighborhood July 4, 1872. He grew to manhood and lived a part of his adult life in that same general vicinity. He was married to Eda Little and three children were born to this union, with one daughter, Sarah, dying in infancy. Mr. Henderson in early life joined the Round Prairie General Baptist church and about five or six years ago transferred his membership to the Geff Methodist church. Surviving are his widow; a son, Burrell Henderson, of Iola; and one daughter, Clarice Warre;, and eight grandchildren. Mr. Henderson was the last surviving member of his own family. Funeral services were held at the Geff Methodist church with burial in Bailey Cemetery. Crippin Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. (Published Wayne County Press---submitted by: #46799457)
