Raymond N. Smith, lifelong Seminole resident passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at the age of 89 in Seminole, Oklahoma. He was born on September 20, 1924 in Seminole, Oklahoma to parents, Edward Josh Smith and Daisy Jewel Chandler.

Raymond while in the United States Army, served in New Guinea, and in South Philippines where he received the Asiatic Pacific Theater Philippine Liberation Victory Medal.

Raymond move from Lindsey, Oklahoma 45 years ago and worked for B. J. Services. He began his career with them as a truck driver and on to being a salesman. He was of the Baptist faith, belonged to the American Legion and the NRA.

Raymond married Louise Drewry on November 11, 1948 in Cromwell, Oklahoma.

Raymond is survived by his wife Louise of the home; one son, Wayne Smith and Bonnie Schomp of Earlsboro, Oklahoma; one daughter, Peggy Posey and her husband Phillip Posey of Seminole, Oklahoma; one brother, Thurman Smith of Bowlegs, Oklahoma and one sister, Nellie Lee of Shawnee, Oklahoma. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Toni Dyan Whitt of Florida, Malinda Alayne Porter and her husband Tony of Florida, William Edward Smith and his wife Haley of Del City, Oklahoma, Tyler Sharber and his wife Whitney of Sayer, Oklahoma, Renee Ross and her husband Eric of Choctaw, Oklahoma, Chris Posey and his wife Angel of Carter, Oklahoma and 14 great grandchildren.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Daisy Smith; two brothers, Roy and Amos Smith, one great granddaughter, Alexia Sharber and one sister, Uelma Smith.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 11, 2014 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Mark Hennen officiating.

Concluding the Memorial service with be the United States Army Honor Guard.

Cremation services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole, Oklahoma
