U.S. Congressman. He graduated from College of William and Mary, 1949 and during the Korean War, served as a 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force, (1951-53). After the war, he graduated from Georgetown University Law Center, Washington, D.C., 1956 and was admitted to the bar. He was a law clerk at the United States Circuit Court of Appeals, District of Columbia Circuit, (1956-57) and a member of the Virginia Senate, (1968-83). In 1983, he was elected as a Republican to the Ninety-eighth Congress and to the next eight succeeding Congresses, serving until his death from natural causes at age 72.
