Mr. St. John was born September 10, 1840 at Westerfield, Trumble county, Ohio, and he was 84 1/2 years old when he died. His parents moved to Wisconsin when he was six years old, and he resided there until he came to Algona in 1893.
Mr. St. John was united in marriage to Miss Melissa Wallwork at Horicon, Wis., in 1875. To this union three children were born: George, of Algona; Mrs. Eva Wadsworth, of Genoa, Colo., and Allie Belle Jones, of Loveland, Colo. Mrs. St. John died here October 20, 1896.
With two brothers, Calvin and Albert, Mr. St. John enlisted in the Union Army in 1862, and served until the close of the war. He was in the 23rd Wisconsin regiment. He was one of a family of 14 children, of whom but two brothers and two sisters survive.
Funeral services will be held at the Presbyterian Church this afternoon at 3 o'clock, and the sermon will be preached by the pastor, the Rev. A. English.
