Died at Camp Hartford.
Death claimed another of the wellknown men of Lewis county, when it summoned Jared P. Brown, who died of cancer, at Camp Hartford, on Third
Lake on Monday morning last. Mr. Brown, who was 73 years of age, had been suffering from the fatal disease for a long time, so his death was not unlooked for. He was for many years a resident of Watson, lately spending the winter months with his daughter, Mrs. Charles Barrett, at her home in Lowville. He had many friends in
this village and in the county generally, by whom he was held in the greatest esteem, owing to the rectitude of his conduct in all associations with his fellowman. He possessed
those qualities of manhood which exercise
a strong influence on the minds of others, evoking those feelings of respect engendered by uprightness and honesty of purpose.
Besides his widow, Susan Gray, formerly of Hartford, Conn., he is survived by one son, Fred Brown of Watson, and one daughter, Mrs. Charles
Barrett, of Lowville.
Funeral services were held at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Barrett on Third Lake, yesterday morning at 10 o'clock, the remains afterward being conveyed to Watson, where a prayer service, was held at 11 o'clock. Interment was made at Beaches Bridge Cemetery in the village of Watson.
