He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Glennda Guthrie Baccus of Ingram; children, Tommy H. Baccus, Jr. (Butch) of Katy, TX, Diana Glynn Baccus and Bart Ford Baccus, both of Ingram and his grandchildren, Thomas Ian Baccus and Harley Paige Baccus. His brothers, Bill Baccus and wife, Mary of Corpus Christi, Jim Baccus, Jr. and wife, Pat of Kerrville and W.F. Baccus and wife, Geneva of Harper also survive him.
Mr. Baccus drove test fleet cars for West Texas Auto testing vehicle tires before going on to work as a nurses aide at the Kerrville Veterans Hospital. He then transferred to the Kerrville Post Office as a mail carrier and retired after 35 years.
In his retirement, he obtained his private pilot's license, served as the Animal Control Officer for the City of Ingram and was a member of the Ingram Volunteer Fire Department. In his spare time, he flew homing pigeons with the Heart of the Hills Pigeon Racing Club.
Mr. Baccus received an honorable discharge from the United States Navy after serving during the Korean Conflict from 1950 to 1955 as a telegraphic operator.
A family visitation for Mr. Baccus will be at Grimes Funeral Chapels from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Monday, January 31, 2011.
Funeral services are set for Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at Grimes Funeral Chapels at 10:00 a.m. with interment following at Garden of Memories Cemetery.
