MUNCIE - Stuart L. Thomas, Sr., 75, of Muncie, passed away Friday, February 25, 2011 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital.
He was born May 21, 1935 in Charlottesville, Virginia to Rodrick and Margaret (Leak) Thomas. Stuart lived most of his life with his foster parents Edward and Charotte Haney. He graduated from Free Union High School in Free Union, Virginia. Stuart worked thirty-five years for Emro Marketing as a service station manager.
He was a veteran serving in the United States Army from August 1958 to August 1964.
Survivors include his loving wife of fifty-two years, Hazel V. (Hensley) Thomas; two sons, Stuart L. Thomas, Jr. and Robert A. Thomas, both of Muncie; brother, Julian A. Thomas (wife, Carolyn), Plymaro, Virginia; sister, Barbara Bickers (husband, Randall); Alexandria, Virginia; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews
Stuart was preceded in death by his parents and foster parents, Edward and Charoltte Haney.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at Parson Mortuary with Rev. Ron Ross officiating. Entombment will follow at Beech Grove Cemetery.
