Louisa immigrated on S. S. Bavaria from Hamburg to New York arriving on May 22, 1866 with her sister Rosina (m Augs Klingmeyer) and brother Karl.
Sponsoned by brother Jacob Koerner, they traveled to join others of the family who had come earlier.
She worked as a maid in Peoria, IL for a Widow Fields until her marriage to J. Adam Steinberg there on 7 Feb 1871. They farmed in Livingston and Ford counties. She bore 5 children, three of whom grew to adulthood.

Louisa F. Koerner was born November 6, 1838, in Strümpfelbach, Wurtenberg, Germany, and died December 31, 1912, at her home in Sibley. Funeral services were held in the M. E. Church last Friday afternoon at 1 o'clock. Rev. W. H. Day, of Chebanse, assisted by Rev. John Hoerner, officiated at the funeral. The body was laid to rest in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
The deceased came to America in 1866, locating in Peoria. She was married to Adam Steinberg in 1871, to which union were born five children, two, Henry and Louise, died in their infancy. The three children living are Anna and Edward of this place and Charles of Fairbury. After marriage they located on a farm near Cullom. After sixteen years of residence at Cullom they moved to the home farm west of Sibley. In 1902 they again moved to their residence property in Sibley.
For the past four years the deceased was an invalid, more or less helpless. She was ever patient in her sufferings and with studied care ever sought to make the burden of those who waited on her light as possible. Mrs. Steinberg was converted in 1868 and united with the Evangelical church, to which organization she was a true and steadfast member, never wavering in the belief that the better part of life lay in the hereafter. She was a kind neighbor, true to her convictions that neighborly assistance is one of the attributes of Christian life. Besides her husband children she leaves four grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her departure.
According to death certificate she lived in the US and Illinois for 45 years. Died at age 74 years, 1 month and 25 days at 5:55 a.m.
