George Haven DOWNS was married 13 Apr 1817 in Coshocton Co., OH to Olive PINGRY.
George was a musician (fifer) in the company commanded by Captain Courson in the Regiment or detatchment of the New Hampshire Militia commanded by Colonel Sios in the war of 1812.
He was drafted at Sandwich Township, Strafford County in the state of New Hampshire on or about the last day of August A.D. 1814 for the term of sixty days and continued in actual service in said company for the term of sixty days. He was honorably discharged at Wentworth Heights near Portsmouth, New Hampshire A.D. 1814 as will appear on the muster rolls of said company.
