*NOTE: In Memory
"William M. Rye was born on March 11, 1816, departed this life on January 9, 1905. Aged 88 years, 9 months, 29 days. He leaves several children to mourn his death together with a host of relatives and friends. His remains were laid to rest in the JOHNSON GRAVEYARD. The burial services were conducted by J.G. Boyett and L.L. Nichols, according to his request. He requested E.A. Palmer, J.T. Harris Eli Frederick and all of his friends gathered around his grave and sing. He united with the Baptist Church in 1863, and ever remained faithful til his death. He came to the grave in a good old age, like a shock of corn in its season. Dearest Father, thou hast left me, Hearthy loss we deeply feel, But it is God who has bereaved us, He can all our sorrows heal, Yet again we hope to meet thee, When our days on earth are fled, Where no farewell tears are shed."
