Cedar Bluff - James Emmett Edwards, Sr., age 86, died Saturday, January 24, 1998 at Clay County Medical Center in West Point. Funeral services were held Monday, January 26 at Calvert Funeral Home Chapel in West Point. Burial was in Big Springs Cemetery with the Rev. Danny Avery, the Rev. Avery Jones and the Rev. Tom Belcher officiating.

The son of the late John M and Elizabeth Langford Edwards, he was a lifelong farmer in the Cairo Community and was a crane operator at Babcock and Wilcox Company for 23 years. He was a member of Enon Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Sarah Felder Edwards of West Point; two daughters, Marguerite Stafford and her husband, Charles, of West Point and Mary Elizabeth Miller and her husband, Karl, of Tupelo; one son, Jimmy Edwards and wife, Pam, of Cedar Bluff; 11 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.

Pallbearers included grandsons Lewis Stafford, Clifton Allen Stafford, James Mark Stafford, Steve Stafford, James Robert Edwards, John Edwards, John Miller and Paul Miller. Honorary pallbearers were Leslie McKee and Bill Turnage.
