Lewis died Saturday at his home at Halls Mills,Whiting,Maine.after a short illness.he was born in the Marion Township,the son of the late James and Clara (Gardner,he was a lifetime resident of Halls Mills area where he was engaged for many years in lumbering and as a millwright,his wife;Elizabeth (Ryan)Gardner.died in 1925.Surviving are three sons;Waverly H.Gardner of Halls Mills,Wesley H.Gardner of East Machias,Maine,Walter L.Gardner of Whiting,Maine.Two daughters;Mrs.Lillian Chemey of Whitefield,Mrs.Clara Frost of Cooper,one brother;Hollis N.Gardner of Whiting,Maine.one sister;Mrs.Blanche Basley of Lubec.9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock with the Rev.Herbert L.Wass officiating.
