Obituary:
Mrs Cleo Shaffer, 71, of rural Rowley, died Wednesday, March 13 at People's Memorial Hospital in Independence. Born Sept 19, 1902 in Johnson County, she was the daughter of Samuel and Hortense Roberts Myers. She was united in marriage to Louis Shaffer in Marion on Feb 14, 1923. She was a member of Friendly Neighbors Club and of the Lime Creek Community Club. Survivors include her husband, Louis; one son, Roberts B Shaffer of rural Rowley; one daughter, Mrs Lowell (Bethel) Betsworth of Galesburg, IL, and one brother, Lee Myers of Marion. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 15 at 2pm at Mason-Hawe Funeral Chapel in Independence. Rev Bruce Unglesbee of the Rowley Methodist Church will officiate. Interment will be in Rowley Cemetery. Mason-Hawe Funeral Chapel of Independence is in charge.
