Charles is husband of Martha E. Metcalf (Midkelf). He is the son of Alonzo (Waters) and Rachel Ann Harber(t) Waters. Rachel is buried at America City Cemetery, Nemaha County, KS. Alonzo is buried at Merena Cemetery, Payne County, OK.

Charles Smith WATERS was born in Morrow county, Ohio, June 9, 1850, and died November 24, 1914, age 64 years, 5 months and 15 days. On October 28, 1867, he was married to Martha MIDKELF. To this union was born nine children, four boys and five girls, one boy and two girls having gone on to the better world. He and his family moved to Oklahoma 26 years ago this fall. Being in poor health he came to his son's near Mayetta, thinking he would regain his health, but he grew worse and died at his brother-in-law's, D.W. JOHNSON's. He was converted and joined the Christian church at Carney, Okla., of which he was a member at the time of his death.
