Gospel preacher listed in C.R. Nichol's book, Gospel Preachers Who Blazed the Trail.

Joseph T. Baker was born March 30, 1858 in Marshall County, Tennessee. At the age of sixteen moved to North Alabama. In 1879 he "got religion" at a Methodist meeting and remained in the church for four years, the last two years with them was spent in preaching. In 1883 he learned the truth in a meeting conducted by B.C. Goodwin and became a Christian. Since that time he has preached the Gospel faithfully. He regrets that his financial and physical condition have prevented him doing much work that he would have enjoyed. He will always present the truth when he has the opportunity. [Gospel Preachers Who Blazed the Trail, p. 10].

Bro. J. T. Baker, Waxahachie, Tex., says: "I have baptized four since the 15th of April. I will begin a meeting at Mountain Peak, Ellis county, Texas, on the 2nd Lord's day in July, to continue one week, and then go to Grandview, Johnson county." Firm Foundation, June 30, 1891, 8.

Bro. J. S. Moser, Savannah, Tenn., reports as follows: "In July at Oak Grove school house, one baptism; beginning Saturday before 1st Lord's in August at Piney Grove, Ala, preached 16 discourses with six baptism. At Mt. Zion, Hardin county, 16 baptized and five by relation. Bro. J. T. Baker of Dallas, Texas, was with me in this meeting and preached six excellent discourses." Firm Foundation, Sept. 18, 1894, 8.

J. T. Baker, Wetumka, Oklahoma, Route 4, January 30: "The Firm Foundation has been visiting our home weekly for over forty-five years. Do not know what wife and I would do without it. It is such a good messenger. It is my only chance to hear from the old time preachers now living which is such a real pleasure to us." Firm Foundation, Feb. 16, 1932, 5.
