Some of his most memorable film credits include "Twelve O'Clock High" (1949), "The Day the Earth Stood Still" (1951), "Earth vs. the Flying Saucers" (1956), "Elmer Gantry" (1960) and "Birdman of Alcatraz" (1962). For television, he was a regular on "Rawhide," "Perry Mason," "Alfred Hitchcock Presents," and "Another World." He died at age 71 in New York City.
