Confederate Army POW. Enlisted in May, 1861 at Gallatin, Sumner County, Tennessee. Company C, 7th Tennessee Infantry Regiment (CSA). Wounded on August 30, 1862 at Groveton, Virginia. Hospitalized at Lynchburg, Virginia. Detailed as a teamster by order of General Heth on June 17, 1863. Hospitalized at Petersburg, Virginia, on October 10, 1864. Furloughed for 30 days on December 29, 1864 by order of General Lee. Captured on February 1, 1865 at Gosport, Mississippi. Died as a POW in U.S. Hospital at Nashville on February 17, 1865. Official cause of death: Chronic Diarrhea.
