OBITUARY:
Knute Landreth, 85, died Tuesday, July 16, 2002, at Ramona Manor Convalescent Hospital in Hemet. Born Sept. 9, 1916, in Wilson, Okla., he lived in Temecula for 16 years. He worked for the U.S. Army as a Master Gunnery Sergeant during World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 289, El Bekal, El Malaikah, Shriners of Anaheim and Scottish Rite. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting and baseball. Mr. Landreth is survived by his wife of 60 years, Wynona Landreth of Temecula; daughter Pat Zschernig of Temecula; son Knute Landreth, Jr. of Huron, S.D.; brother Dewey Landreth of Midwest City, Okla; sisters Rita Landreth of Los Angeles and Myrtle Miller of Union City; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A graveside service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, July 20, at Oakdale Cemetery, 1401 S. Grand St. in Glendora. The family suggests memorial donations to Hemet Hospice Inc., 890 W. Stetson Ave., Suite B, Hemet, CA 92543. McWane Family Funeral Home in Hemet is handling arrangements. (North County Times, Friday, July 19, 2002)
