Zenas Williams, a veteran of the American Revolutionary War, is listed on the D.A.R. Monument in the churchyard of the First Presbyterian Church of Orange, NJ. Erected in 1931, this memorial consists of a bronze plaque affixed to a large rock, and honors those buried in the churchyard who fought to free the thirteen American colonies from British rule.
A copy of the 1928 transcription of the gravestones here gives the date of Zenas' death as May 8, 1829, and his age at that time as "60". Had he been 60 in 1829, however, his birth year would have been c.1769, making him 6 years old when the Revolutionary War began and 14 when it ended. It seems more likely that his birth year was closer to that of his wife, Naomi, who was born c.1759, and who died at age 79 in 1838.
