A veteran of the Revolutionary War, Bethuel Pierson fought for American independence as a man in his 50's and early 60's. He lived into his 92nd year, long enough to see the young US engage in a second war against Britain---the War of 1812---but not long enough to see it end in an American victory.
His name is listed on the D.A.R. Monument near the front entrance of the First Presbyterian Church of Orange, NJ. This memorial, which consists of a bronze plaque affixed to a boulder, was erected in 1931 to honor the Revolutionary War veterans buried in the churchyard.
