Born c.1730, Capt. Abraham Ogden fought for American independence during the Revolution. A man in his mid-40's and early 50's during the war years, he was an officer of maturity and experience. He died in the spring of 1797 at the age of 67.
His name is listed on the D.A.R. Monument just outside the front entrance of the First Presbyterian Church of Orange, NJ. This memorial, which consists of a bronze plaque affixed to a boulder, was erected in 1931 to honor the Revolutionary War veterans buried in the churchyard.
