Pat was born Feb. 19, 1942 in Dayton, Ohio, to Leslie Charles Poling and Othella Gertrude Dennis Poling. She attended Classical High School in Springfield, MA and The Vermont College of Women.
She married Garth Toone on March 17, 1967 in Evanston, Illinois. They made their home in California in 1968 where Garth began practicing dentistry. In 1970, Pat and Garth became parents of twin boys, Brian and Brett, at which time Pat chose to dedicate her time and talents to raising her sons, never missing one of their sports competitions, or choir and orchestra concerts.
After the boys graduated high school, Pat continued her education and began work at The Reproductive Science Center of the Bay Area in San Ramon, CA. She continued to work there for 15 years as a Medical Technologist.
Pat was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in the Church throughout her life.
Pat's hobbies included reading, sewing, knitting, cooking, gardening, walking, traveling, genealogy, and Mah Jong. Pat's club affiliations included Contra Costa Dental Wives Auxiliary, Walnut Creek Junior Women's Club, Junior League of Oakland East Bay, Investment Group, and Book Club.
After the death of her husband in 2005, she moved to Eagle, Idaho to be closer to her grandchildren, with whom she enjoyed reading, doing puzzles, baking cookies, and sharing special one on one time.
She is survived by her sons, Brian (Ann) Toone, Brett (Lisa) Toone; five grandchildren: Kailey, Brooke, Ethan, Dominic and Dawson; brother, Dennis Poling, of West Lafayette, IN; and aunts, Janet Eisendrath, of MA and Martha Jane Vertrees, of IN.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband of 38 years, Garth Toone.
Pat will be deeply missed by her family and many special friends in California and throughout the United States, and the wonderful new friends she made in Idaho.
She will be remembered by her family and friends as extremely talented. Everything she did was meticulously done to perfection and she was always concerned for others before herself.
Services to celebrate her life will be held 11:00 am on Friday, March 4, 2011 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Bristol Heights Building, 6375 N Royal Park Ave, Boise, ID 83713.
