George Washington McPherson married twice. First Malissa Electa Veal around 1881 or so. Malissa who went by May McPherson died at the age of 34 years. George and May McPherson had seven children together before her death. George married second to Anna M. Ulrich on July 20, 1907 in Wayne county, Indiana.
The following newspaper obituary was printed at the time of George McPherson's death although which paper (probably Hagerstown, Indiana) and date is unknown:
"George McPherson, age 74, died Wednesday afternoon at his home at Five Points, west of here. Mr. and Mrs. McPherson had lived at their present home for many years and are well known thoughout the community.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Brick Church with burial in the Ulrich Cemetery northwest of here. Elder O. D. Werking will be in charge.
Survivors are the widow, Anna, one son, Marley, who is now confined in the Reid Memorial Hospital in Richmond; four sons in Kansas; a sister, Mrs. Alice Brown of Richmond, and another sister and two brothers, and one step-son."
The physician who treated George W. McPherson during the last year of his life was Dr. William A. Miller.
George died at age 74 yrs 9 mos 8 dys. The undertaker was L. S. Gray of Hagerstown, Indiana.
George is not buried next to Anna, his second wife to whom he was married 29 years. She is buried in the Brick Church Cemetery next to her first husband John Chamness.
