‎ ‎ ‎ Edeth (Horrace) Buffington Matthews, 88, of Boise, died Saturday, Nov. 3, 2001, at St. Luke's Regional Medical Center.
‎ ‎ ‎ Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8. at Summers Funeral Homes, Boise Chapel, 1205 W. Bannock St. Pastor Tom Blackburn, former pastor of Garden City Community Church, will officiate. Burial will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 9, at Kohledawn Cemetery, Nampa.
‎ ‎ ‎ Edeth was born in 1913 in Goodrich, Idaho. She had four children - Darlene, Delmer (Dei), Dorothy, and Steve. Edeth worked at Luke's Hospital as head of housekeeping until the death of her husband, Elmer Buffington. After he died, she went back to school and received her nursing degree, graduating with honors. Her family members were very proud of her for this accomplishment. She went back to work at St. Luke's Hospital as an LPN for over 25 years. ‎ ‎ ‎
‎ ‎ ‎ During her life, she was instrumental in the founding of the Garden City Senior Citizen Center. Edeth was also an active member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary Post #63, and the Garden City Rebekah Lodge.
‎ ‎ ‎ Edeth is survived by her daughter, Dorothy Mosely of Olivehurst. Calif.; and her son, Steve Buffington of Boise. She is also survived by her two sisters, Mable Allen of Newport, Wash. and Audra Wright of Portland, Ore.; many grandchildren and great- grandchildren; and many, many friends and family.
‎ ‎ ‎ Her daughter, Darlene McKenzie; and her son, Delmer (Dei) Buffington, preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her husbands, Elmer Buffington and Bob Matthews: three sisters; and one brother.
