MORRIS, Mrs. Ross, Beeville Bee, Friday, 26 May 1905:

Death of Mrs. Ross MORRIS.
In the death of Mrs. Elizabeth C. Morris in her seventy-fifth year, the oldest
citizen of Beeville was called to the great reward beyond. For forty-five years
she had been a resident of Beeville. Born in North Carolina, November 26, 1831.
When nine years of age she moved with her parents to Tennessee, where she
was reared and where in 1851 she was united in marriage to Ross Morris,
whom she survived some ten years.

In 1860, she and her husband settled in Bee County, Mr. Morris being the first
man to develop the sheep industry on a large scale in the county. Likewise as
he was the first in that business he was the last to abandon it, selling his head
in 1891 when he sold his ranch, which adjoins the city on the northwest.

Fourteen children were the result of their union, seven of whom survive their
parents. J. P. Morris of Kingsville, Charles of Ashby, Matagorda County, L. D. of
Live Oak, Mrs. G. J. ADAMS of Brazoria County, Walter, Miss Lucy and Mrs. R. E.
McCOY of Beeville. The funeral took place yesterday, the funeral service being
conducted by Rev. J. T. H. Miller of the Methodist church of which she was one
of the earliest members here.
