US Congressman. He attended St. John's College New York City, the University of London, St. Louis Law School, was admitted to the bar and practiced law in St. Louis, Missouri. In 1879, he was elected as a Democrat to the Forty-sixth Congress, serving until 1881 and then presented credentials as a Member-elect to the Forty-seventh Congress, serving until 1883. After leaving Congress, he resumed the practice of law until his death at age 48.
