Carrie Lone Eagle, 28, of Bridger, passed away, Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at her home.

Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11:00 a.m. MST, Saturday, February 5, 2011 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Bridger, SD with Fr. Matt Fallgren officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Carrie attended Bridger, C-EB & Takini Schools, Kicking Horse Job Corp, acquired her education on-line, GED,CNA and was currently taking classes, worked at Philip Nursing Home, Cactus Café as a hostess, until she became ill. After medical treatment she was in remission for two years, during that time Carrie traveled with her big sister and became a nanny for her nieces and nephews. Her love for children was extraordinary. She came home as her illness was taking over her life.

Carrie fought bravely and went through enormous changes in her life. In spite of that she wanted happiness and fun times for all those she touched. Carrie had special friends that she could always count on whether it was just to visit or offer a listening ear, a lending hand. She would always have comforting words of encouragement to those who became friends with her. Carrie became an avid participate of the Big Foot Ride and the O'omaka Tokitakeya Ride. She believed in the Spiritual rides and dedicated herself to each of them.

Carrie received her Lakota name Wichapi Waste Win during a naming ceremony at Bridger Bigfoot Memorial Wacipi. It was given to her by Grandmother Zouie, as passing her talent of making Star quilts on to Carrie. A very special niece Audrey gave her Auntie Carrie a special name "CARE BEAR" because she would always make time for her niece, no matter what.
