Sarah Clay Hampton, 89, of Lebanon, went to be with her Lord and Savior Thursday, Feb. 17, 2011, at Parkwood Health Care Center in Lebanon.
Sarah was born in Winchester, Ky. She was the daughter of Cyrus and Agnes Riggs-White, who preceded her in death. She also was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Clifford Hampton; 12 brothers and sisters; and one grandson, Joseph Hampton.
Survivors include a son, Paul "Bo" (Wanda) Hampton of Lebanon; daughter, Pat (Roy) Young of Lebanon; five grandchildren, Stephanie Hampton-Franklin of Frankfort, Rhonda Hampton-Patchon of Greenwood, John Hampton, Mike (Amy) Young of Lebanon and Karen Merritt of Lebanon; five great-grandchildren, Matt Young, Jacob Young, Nicholas Merritt, John-Paul Hampton and Cassie Hampton.
Sarah was a homemaker and she loved and cared for her family. They always took "top priority." She also loved to read her Bible daily. The family, including nieces and nephews and her friends, would get together after church for snacks, then later in the evening for a family Sunday meal.
Family and friends will gather from 12 to 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 19, in the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. The Rev. David Wright will officiate her funeral at 2 p.m. Saturday in the mortuary. Sarah will be laid to rest in the Browns Wonder Cemetery in Lebanon.
