Elzo Sprang, 79, Laid to Rest - Native of Holland

Death came July 20 to Elzo Sprang, DeSmet, at Sioux Valley Hospital, Sioux Falls, following a lingering illness. He was 79 years of age. Funeral services were held July 22 at 2 p.m. at Spirit Lake Presbyterian Church, the Rev. Jack Gager officiating. Burial was at Spirit Lake Cemetery. Mrs. Arnold Poppen and Mrs. Calvin Poppen sang "In the Sweet Bye and Bye" and "Abide With Me" accompanied by Mrs. Delmar Cramer. Casket bearers were Arnold Poppen, Calvin Poppen, Edward Poppen, Oliver Seefeldt, Delmar Cramer and Herman Smith.

Mr. Sprang was born October 11, 1890, in Feinstervolde, Holland, the son of Henry and Elsie Sprang. He attended school in Freeport, Ill. He married Ruth Gwendolin Stemple November 3, 1920, and has lived since then in the Spirit Lake Township and DeSmet area.

Survivors include the widow, a daughter, Mrs. Lester (Geraldine) Wubbena and a son, Marvin, both of DeSmet; two sisters, Mrs. Freeling Wessels, Santa...
