Per a family bible record (that belonged to one of Israel's parents) he was actually born on 5 Apr 1861. Also, his claim with Woodmen of the World lists 6 April 1861 as date of birth; it is unclear why the marker has a March date.
He was called Bean, possibly after his mother's family; it is unclear whether his middle name is Hagen, Haggins, Highens or some other spelling, all have bee recorded at one time or another.
