Obituary
Sudden Death
Mr. Cassius M. Dew, of Nelsonville, whose recent marriage was announced in last week's Messenger, was found dead in bed by his wife when she woke sometime during Tuesday night. We are not at the time of writing this directly advised as to the cause of his death, but suppose it was the result of mumps, with which, we learn, he was afflicted.
(ATHENS MESSENGER, Athens, Ohio, Thursday, August 1, 1878)
__________

(NOTE: In Dennie's obituary from 1931, Cassius M. Dew is referred to as "Dr.". Since he was only 17 at the time of his death, I feel it's unlikely that he had completed his training. Also, on his grave marker, his father is named as Dr. J. S. Dew. If Cassius was also a doctor at the time of his death, it seems likely that they would've added the title of "Dr." to his name as well. Without further evidence, I am not going to change the official title on his memorial page, but am willing to do so if more evidence is presented.)
