Anna Estella Manchester was the daughter of Orsemus Manchester and Sarah Ann Wickham. Her parents moved from Otsego County, New York to Madison, Lake County Ohio about the time that Anna was born. Anna's mother died in 1855 when Anna was one year old. Her father Orsemus remarried Lucy B Mattoon. The family moved from Madison to Perry about 1857.

Anna married Willard Barber, the son of James Wilson Barber and Nancy Richardson, in about 1883. The couple lived in Perry, Lake County, Ohio. They had one child.
