Richard Thomas Baxter, the son of David Baxter, was born at Chalk Bluff, MO., March 20, 1863 and moved to Arkansas when he was one year old. Mr. Baxter was a retired farmer and lived in Arkansas for forty years. He was one of the original homesteaders in the Ramer Chapel community near Lafe, Arkansas where he was a member of the Methodist Church.

In 1921 he moved to Nimmons, Arkansas and resided in that vicinity until 1940. Then he moved to Broseley, Missouri and from there to Poplar Bluff, Missouri where he died March 30, 1959 at the home of his son, M.G. Baxter, at the age of 96 years.

He is survived by two daughters: Mrs. Ellen Fox of Poplar Bluff, MO., Mrs. Minnie Lampley of Bono, Arkansas. Five sons: Richard M. Baxter, Flint, Michigan, N.L. Baxter, Flint, Michigan, M.G. Baxter of Poplar Bluff, Mo., J.E. Baxter of Wayland, Michigan, I.D. Baxter, Dover, Florida. Funeral Services were held at the Russell Funeral Chapel in Piggott, Arkansas, at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 2, 1959 conducted by Rev. Harold Spence. Interment was in the Piggott Cemetery with Russell Mortuary in charge
