Chico Weekly Chronicle-Record, Saturday, January 12, 1895, pg 1 col 4: Death of Abbie S. Cummings. Mrs. Abbie S. Cummings, an aged lady of 77 years, died yesterday at the residence of her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. W.C. Roberts, on Second street; between Flume and Wall streets.
Mrs. Cummings was a native of New Hampshire, and was reared among its hills, which have been the rugged nurse of many of our country’s most noted statesmen and heroes.
She has been residing wither daughter in Chico for the past twelve years, and has been kindly cared for by loving hearts and willing hands. She passed quietly away from the struggles and vanities of life, through the exhaustion of old age, entertaining the fond hope and belief of an immortality beyond the grave.
The funeral services will be held at the residence of W.C. Roberts at 2 o’clock today.
77-year-old Abigail E. Cummings was interred, per the Chico Cemetery Association Records, in the plot noted, on January 5, 1895.
