Pioneer Resident Of Eakly Dies At Age of Eighty-Four
William Henry Clear, son of Jacob and Margaret Clear, was born in Indiana June 4, 1860, and departed this life Nov. 22, 1944, at the home of his son, Floyd Clear, at the age of 84 years, 6 months and 18 days.
When a small boy he moved with his parents to Missouri where he met and married Miss Sarah Ellen Hall. To this union nine children, four boys and five girls were born.
He came to Oklahoma in 1901, locating at Tecumseh. One year later he moved to Hydro and Eakly vicinity where he lived until his death. Those preceding him in death, are his wife who died in 1933, also four children, Mrs. Ona Hart, Claude Earl Clear, Leonard Leo Clear and Edna Pearl Clear.
Those surviving him are two sons, Fred L. Clear, Tulsa; Floyd O. Clear, Eakly, and three daughters, Mrs. Fred Van Dyke, San Antonio; Mrs. Glade Lewellen, Maywood, Calif., and Mrs. Mable Ross, Hydro; also 36 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren and 14 great great grandchildren and a host of friends.
He united with the Christian church about 40 years ago. He was a devoted husband, a kind and loving father.
Funeral services were held at the Eakly Methodist church at 2:30, Nov. 24, by Rev. L.W. Skaggs and burial was in the Eakly cemetery.
