Mr. Towriss was a realtor with Coldwell Banker Lunsford for seven years. Previously, he managed the One Accord Restaurant for eight years and John's Awful Awful Restaurant for 20 years.
Mr. Towriss is survived by his wife, Judy Conder Towriss; three sons, David M. Towriss (wife-Karen), Miami, Fla., Daniel J. Towriss (wife-Heather), Fort Wayne, and Douglas A. Towriss (wife-Rachel), Indianapolis; two sisters, Faith Fouch, Muncie, and Mary Proudian, Bloomington; two brothers, Rev. Charles Towriss (wife-Betty), St. Petersburg, Fla., and John Towriss, Muncie; seven grandchildren, Derek Michael Towriss, Madison Ann Towriss, Alex David Towriss, and Andrew David Towriss, all of Miami, Fla., Allison Joy Towriss and Jonathan Anthony Towriss, Fort Wayne, and Joseph Anthony Towriss, Indianapolis.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jonathan G. Towriss and Helen V. Howard Towriss, and a sister, Ruth Stephan.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Center Chapel Methodist Church, and friends may call 4-8 p.m. Monday at Garden View Funeral Home and an hour before services Tuesday at the church. Graveside services will be at Gardens of Memory. Memorials may be made to Center Chapel Methodist Church Debt Reduction Fund. Arrangements were handled by Garden View Funeral home.
