Maurice James Buckmaster OBE.was educated at Eton College and prior to 2nd World War was a corporate manager of the French Branch of the Ford Motor Company.
When 2nd World War started - Buckmaster returned to England and joined the Army. He later was appointed information officer for the newly formed French Section of the Special Operations Executive - later being appointed Head of Section.Buckmaster was involved in the recruitment and training of agents, whose job was to carry out clandestine operations, sabatage and obtain intelligence information.
He always gave a pep talk and a gift to agents who were about to commence a mission in enemy territory.
Buckmaster was awarded the Croix de Guerre by the French Government for his services to France.
After the war he re-joined the Ford Motor Company at their Dagenham factory in England. He was appointed Director of Public Affairs.
He was portrayed in many feature films about the Special Operations Executive and made a brief appearance in the film Oddette about the S.O.E. agent Oddette Sanson.
